Tattoo Cover kit by Veil reviewed

I have always been interested in learning new skills, especially when it comes to applying makeup. My sister said to me once she regretted having her tattoo done because she doesn't want it on show if she gets married one day. So when I was reading some wonderful blogs from the #bbloggers feed last Sunday and I stumbled across a blog by the lovely Andrew James MUA who reviewed a Tattoo Cover up kit I was excited! I went straight over to www.veilcovercream.com and bought myself the same kit.

The Kit Contents

5 different shades of cover cream so that you can mix together to get your perfect skin tone match, 1 x 10g pot of finishing powder, 1 x 30g jar of cleansing cream, 1 x 30ml bottle of toning lotion, an empty jar for mixing, 2 spatulas, 4 cotton pads and a powder brush. You get all this in your kit plus a cute re-usable zip bag with pockets just the right size to keep the powders secure. It's priced at £34.97 plus postage.

The creams are highly pigmented and ever so smooth. They look exactly as they do in the pots so I didn't do a swatch test, just no need when I was going to test them to cover my tattoo. I started by mixing the lightest colour Oyster with the white. I found the small pot very small indeed and so had to switch to my palette to mix the creams. It was very hard to get the right colour. My skin tone is pink to fair so the Oyster cream was the lightest of the creams in this kit. I'll need more practise at mixing to get the right colour or maybe Veil could suggest to me a lighter colour? It would be very much appreciated.

Below is my first attempt at a cover up. My tattoo is only small and it will be the only time you see it covered because I adore it and always want my doggy on show ^o^ Veil covered well and I was very happy with the result accept from how dark it was. Considering I have never done this before I was suitably impressed. I just need more practise with colour mixing and getting a cleaner, blended edge. I kept going further and further away from the tattoo.

The staying power is amazing! I had this on most of the day and when I tried to shift it I had to scrub at it with makeup remover. It's waterproof naturally so if I were to use it on a bride god forbid she got caught in the rain, her hair maybe ruined but at least her tattoo cover up would be fine.

Garnier Olia hair colour 6.0 Light Brown

Hair colour for me is like a new handbag, living without one is near on impossible. I've been dying my own hair since the age of 13. I was blonde then. Nowadays I prefer to go darker rather than lighter. It's much less damaging for my locks not to mention cheaper. At home hair colour is so much simpler than anything you have seen done at a salon. It doesn't require any specialized training. All you need is some simple preparation and patience.

Glossybox June 2013 Review

My third Glossybox review and it's a Summersational one! Glossybox want to help us achieve the perfect summer look in 2013. Yes I know we have mostly seen rain so far but hey we can prep our skin ready for those rays right? I was a little confused when I opened my box to see 2 nail varnishes and then on closer inspection realised my mistake. NUXE Huile Prodigieuse OR, described as a desert island must have, it is essentially a dry oil. It can be used on face, body and hair and illuminates, hydrates and strengthens. It's quite expensive and something I wouldn't give a second thought to as I'm not a fan of shimmer on the body. At £34 it's for those of you who have money to burn.

Benefit Velvet eyeshadow

I've been meaning to blog about this for some time. I bought this in the Benefit online sale a few months back and it's been lurking in the bottom of my makeup bag (a hat box these days). I have been wearing it for a couple of days now and really wishing it hadn't been a sale item because I think I'm going to use it a lot!

DIY How to make Cushion covers

This is something that comes quite easily to me having done a HND in Fashion and Textiles. It doesn't mean it's something I do often however. I wondered for a second if I could remember how to thread my sewing machine up and maybe I should be doing a 'How to re-learn to thread your machine' post first. Once I had unearthed my threads and made sure my machine worked properly the rest was a piece of cake.

Avon Perfect Kiss Lipsticks

Over the past 2 weeks I have been taking these 2 lipsticks from Avon's Perfect Kiss range to parties I've been hosting and the response I got from them were amazing. Those who know me well know I don't wear lipstick, "My lips are to small" I tell everyone. Plus I drink way too much cola which dries out my lips. I know I should stop but I think I'm an addict now :P Anyway this means I always have to use a lip balm to stop them drying out.
