Makeup Artist in the Making

I finished work today to discover an email confirming my place on a new career path in 2013. I enrolled at Jackie Hamilton's School of Beauty, Norwich starting in March. I will be training to become a Level 2 qualified Make-Up Artist (MUA). It's something I have always had an interest in but thought I would never do!

Christmas Eve Nails

It's Christmas Eve! *dances* For someone who wasn't really doing Xmas this year due to money problems I'm actually quite excited :D I'm looking after my partner today as he has my terrible cold. He's snuggled up in bed with soup and the cat. I'm watching The Santa Claus and eating cheese on crackers.

Books of the Year 2012

Since reading my first 'grown up book' at the age of 11, namely 101 Dalmatians, I have loved reading. My boyfriend doesn't understand it. He like many other people I've spoken to about my love of books say they just don't have the time. I find getting lost in a good book is better than watching a film. Books last longer and linger with you after you put them down. Sometimes it's really hard to put them down but you know you must. Then there's the excitement of going home to carry on reading from where you left off.

Clothes Show 2012: Goody Bag #3

Third instalment of my goody bag series - the Your Hair stand was my last find of the day as I didn't have a map so pretty much guessed my way round. I did find a big board with a map about 30 mins before I left! Typical, always the way isn't it haha

The bag these goodies came in was transparent so I could see the contents before I bought it. I wouldn't normally buy this magazine as my hair stays very much the same style. In fact I know you'll give me a virtual slap for this but I haven't had a hair cut since August.

Clothes Show 2012: Goody Bag #2

Second post in my goody bag series which I collected from The Clothes Show on 7/12.  As an avid Cosmo reader since the age of 15 this bag was always going to be my fav. It's a shame their bags weren't as awesome as the Models Own and my were the staff in a tizzy. Their wasn't enough change so I had to wait to be served while they found some.

Cosmopolitan and Company Magazine had teamed up at The Clothes Show this year. The goody bag only cost £3 can you believe it?!? Cosmo itself is £3.60 and Company £2 ✩

Clothes Show: Goody Bag #1

This is a first in a series of goody bag posts which I collected from The Clothes Show this week. Check out the fabtastic bag above! It's huge! I wish nail polishes came that size. The Goody bag was FREE with the purchase of 3 Nail colours for just £5 ... yep I typed that right £5!!

The Clothes Show 2012 Review

A couple of weeks ago I wasn't even thinking about The Clothes Show in Birmingham. Partly due to the fact I hadn't been in years as I couldn't afford to go and it was the same this year. I just happened to enter a competition to win 2 tickets to The Clothes Show Live run by the wonderful Caroline Lichfield @Caroline__Mary on her BLOG and won! I couldn't believe my luck and called my sister to tell her the good news. She was bouncing off the walls as she's been on at me for ages about going.

Review: Sample Fit Me Maybelline Foundation

I was super excited when I saw this fall on my hall mat this morning. I have been waiting for my NEW Fit Me from Maybelline sample to arrive for some time. They have been very popular. So you can imagine my disappointment when I opened the little packet to find not shade 120 but 125, Nude Beige! I have never been that colour in my life and never worn fake tan. It's such a shame they sent me the wrong one after I waited so long for it. I'm sure it would have fit me very well if it had been the correct shade. I thought I would put a small blog up about it anyway. I was planning to wear the foundation and do a blog but seeing as it's the wrong shade I shan't embarrass myself by putting up an orange picture of my face. Instead I have photographed how lovely the packaging was.

Glamour Nail Polish Giveaway

(NOW CLOSED) I have reached 50 blog followers via GFC and even though to ome this is a small amount I really am so pleased. Never did I think that people would actually want to read what I write.

I love Glamour Magazine so when I saw it giving away these wonderful nail varnishes free I had to buy a couple of mags! I bought the red and gold sparkle as I thought them very festive and instead of keeping them for myself I want to give them away. For you my lovely readers I bought 2 magazines but only read the one ;)

L'Oreal Ombre Hair Colour and Recital Preference No.7 Dark Blonde review

I mentioned on Twitter that I was experimenting with Ombre Colour yesterday. I decided that seeing as I'm starting a new part-time job on Sunday I better do something with my hair. So after I dropped my boyfriend off at work I dropped into the city and I paid Boots a visit. I bought 2 colours as L'Oreal had an offer on, buy 2 for £10!

My Favourite Perfumes

I'm a bit naughty when it comes to perfumes. I have a tendency to buy purely based on the cute bottles. I'm a sucker for anything pink naturally. I've even started collecting vintage perfume bottles. I keep my eyes peeled for anything classic, like the perfumes that use to sit on my Nanna's vanity table.

It is about expressing yourself but not to the point where people cringe when reading your posts. I have put together a few tips that may aid you in your start up...

Review: Avon Strictly Dancing Perfume

If your a fan of the sequins and glamour of Strictly you'll be more than happy to be switching off Xfactor and turning over to BBC ONE to watch Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday nights at 6:30pm. To coincide with the new series Strictly has collaborated with AVON to bring out two unique fragrances. The only perfumes to capture the essence of the show. As an Avon Sales Leader I was fortunate enough to be given both fragrances FREE by AVON when I visited their annual conference this August. The event was held at the Hilton Metropolis in Birmingham with guest singer and speaker Alesha Dixon.

This pale pink bottle is a beauty to look at which is apt considering it's name, Strictly Come Dancing Ballroom Beauty. The scent is described as ‘beautiful combination of luscious raspberry, feminine pink rose petals and sensual amber. I find this a sickly sweet smell and more tailored to the feminine woman for an everyday use.

Celeb skincare secret

Salma chatted on Lorraine this Friday morning. She has had a varied film career and is now playing Elena in Savages, about two men who face off against a Mexican drug cartel. The film also stars Benicio Del Toro, Blake Lively, Taylor Kitsch and John Travolta.

Whenever someone meets Salma they always comment on her wrinkle free skin. There isn't one blemish on her beautiful face. She puts it down to her night time regime. She said in the Daily Mail Online “It’s that moment where I close the door and no one is allowed in for 10 minutes. It’s me time and I need it at the end of every day to keep sane and wash the day away,” says Hayek.

She told Kate during her interview on Lorraine that she doesn't clean her face in the mornings. She thoroughly cleanses her skin the night before, removing all Make-Up. "Night time is when your skin regenerates". If cleaning your skin in the morning all your doing is washing away the natural oils that your skin needs to stay youthful.

She uses a really good cream the night before to give her skin a boost while she sleeps. She did not mention what she used but I would recommend Avon's NEW A-F33 as 100% of women have seen a difference after just one week of use, buy yours here via the SHOP link above.

If not washing your face in the morning works for Selma Hayek then I'll be giving it a go. Have you tried this regime before? Has it worked for you? Let me know.

How to get your blog or business noticed

If you're just starting out or are looking for ways to boost your business/blog, successful self-promotion is key. Get your name out there with these tips...
Social media
Websites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Friends Reunited, etc have become so popular that they're now essential – not to mention free – marketing tools that are almost expected for every business, large or small. LinkedIn is especially for businesses and since May 2003 has over 120,000.000 users! If it's a self-employed business you want to promote why not start a blog. Add a Facebook 'like' button to each of your blog posts, and to articles or videos you love. Link your accounts together so that everything you post on your Facebook business page automatically posts on Twitter too, and vice versa.
